INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

Scope and editorial policy

Estudios paraguayos accepts only "original scientific articles" on topics of philosophical, sociological, historical, pedagogical, political, economic, anthropological, artistic, and other related nature, aimed at researchers, teachers, and students of social sciences who have Paraguay as their object of study (Thematic Areas: Humanities and Applied Social Sciences). By "original scientific article" we mean: works resulting from primary research that disseminate the findings of the research conducted. These, for their evaluation and possible publication in Estudios paraguayos, must adapt to the editorial norms requested by the Journal. The journal is framed within the institutional research policies of the University.

Manuscript preparation

  1. Manuscripts submitted to Estudios paraguayos for evaluation and possible publication may be sent in Spanish, Guarani, Portuguese, and English. In all cases, regardless of the selected language, they should be sent without spelling or grammatical errors, respecting the presentation format required by this publication.
  2. The journal accepts pre-published or preprint articles on servers with that methodology. Estudios paraguayos encourages those who submitted their articles for evaluation to deposit their scientific manuscripts on public servers, modality: preprint. List of recommended preprint servers: asapbio.org/preprint-servers.

  3. Promoting good academic practices and avoiding what is known as plagiarism in its articles, since 2018 it has contracted the services of Plagium Premium. All submitted works, before the double-blind process, will mandatorily pass through this control tool. Required originality level: 85%

  4. NO CHARGES ARE MADE FOR ARTICLE PROCESSING OR PUBLICATION.

  5. The Journal accepts only "original scientific articles" on topics of philosophical, sociological, historical, pedagogical, political, economic, anthropological, artistic, and other related nature, aimed at researchers, teachers, and students of social sciences who have Paraguay as their object of study (Thematic Areas: Humanities and Applied Social Sciences).

  6. By "original scientific article" we mean: primary research works that disseminate the findings of the research conducted.

  7. Regardless of the selected language, out of the four possible, "Abstract" and "Keywords" must be submitted in Spanish and English as a mandatory criterion.

  8. There is no minimum or maximum page extension determined. The quality of the works will be evaluated, regardless of the number of words.

  9. The manuscript must be submitted in a document that allows processing and subsequent layout. Files in pdf format are not accepted.

  10. The text, WITHOUT PARAGRAPH INDENTATION, should have a line spacing of 1.5, top margin 3 cm, bottom 2 cm, left 3 cm and right 2 cm, A4 size sheet.

  11. All illustrations, graphics, figures, and tables will be within the text in their corresponding place, must be duly cited and with the corresponding captions.

Presentation format

  1. Understanding the open nature of social sciences and humanities texts, the structure of the articles is left to each author. However, the following is mandatory:

  2. Article title (Spanish and English, mandatory): the first letter capitalized and the following in lowercase.

  3. Article funding source: If it had funding (must be specified), if not, state: No funding.

  4. Author(s) (name(s) and surname(s); institution where they work and country). In the case of several authors, they will decide the order of appearance according to their degree of participation.

  5. If all authors have contributed in the same way, they must declare, at the end of the text and before the Bibliographic References, the following: Authors' contribution: all of them have participated in all the steps that this research required. If not, establish the functions according to the following taxonomy of authorship roles: Conceptualization; Data curation; Formal analysis; Funding acquisition; Investigation; Methodology; Project administration; Resources; Software; Supervision; Validation; Visualization; Writing - original draft; Writing - review & editing.

  6. Abstract (Spanish and English, mandatory)

  7. Keywords (Spanish and English, mandatory)

  8. Article text: The structuring of it based on the research results.

  9. Notes, bibliographic references: explained in the shared template and according to APA Version 6 norms (see publication manual)

  10. Email address of the author or authors.

  11. Brief biography of the author or authors.

  12. ORCID identifier of the author or authors.

  13. Dates of reception and acceptance of the article. The Journal's Editorial Committee will include this information in the article before its publication.

  14. Citations within the text: follow APA Version 6 norms (see publication manual)

  15. When the citation has fewer than 40 words, it is written immersed in the text, in quotation marks and without italics. The period is written after finishing the citation and all the data.

  16. Citations that have more than 40 words are written apart from the text, with indentation, without quotation marks and without italics. At the end of the citation, the period is placed before the data -remember that in citations with fewer than 40 words the period is placed after-. Similarly, the organization of the data may vary depending on where the emphasis is placed, as in the previous case.

  17. Bibliographic references (print, electronic). Only references cited in the text should be included, arranged alphabetically in a single list. References under APA Version 6 norms (see publication manual).
