Población y Desarrollo is an arbitrated publication of an academic, scientific and technical nature. It is published with the aim of promoting the exchange of ideas, experiences and work in the field of Social Sciences.

The journal is aimed at the national and international scientific-academic community that conducts related studies with the thematic area of the same. Open to original articles resulting from research projects or other significant original research for the specific area of the journal. It is required that the contributions that are submitted be original, unpublished and not be simultaneously submitted in other journals.

The received papers will be evaluated by a Scientific Committee made up of international and national external academic peers. The arbitration process of the articles is carried out in the double blind modality, guaranteeing the confidentiality and anonymity of authors and arbitrators. The evaluators are selected for their knowledge on the topics covered by each article. The evaluation criteria are: the originality of the content, the conceptual rigor, the methodological aspects, the clarity and the coherence, the quality of the sources and the references, the contribution to the knowledge, a good presentation of the summary, relevance of the title and the conclusions.

The function of the pairs is to evaluate the work presented and to decide on one of the four options: 1) The manuscript is accepted without modifications; 2) The manuscript is accepted with suggestions for its publication; 3) It is recommended to reorient the manuscript for publication. In those cases in which a great divergence arises in the reports of the evaluators, the Director of the Magazine resorts to the opinion of a third external referee. Although the evaluators dictate the work of their peers, the final decision is in the hands of the Director of the publication.

Phases of arbitration of articles

Reception of articles. Once the work has been received, the Editor will confirm its receipt and make an initial editorial evaluation to check: the thematic scope according to the editorial criteria of the Journal and the compliance with the presentation requirements demanded in the publication rules. It should be noted that the reception of the article does not imply its acceptance.

System of revision and selection of works. Checked compliance with the formal aspects and consistency with the editorial line of the Journal, the article will be sent confidentially and anonymously (double blind) to evaluation by peers, who will issue a report on the convenience or otherwise of its publication , which will serve as the basis for selection by the Editorial Committee. The reviewed works, that for their publication consider modifications, will have to be corrected and returned by the authors to the Magazine in the maximum term of 30 days.

Publication process. Once the evaluation process is finished, the notification of acceptance or rejection of its publication will be sent to the main author of the work.

Submission of articles

• Author or authors: present the full name and surname of each of the authors, include email and the ORCID ID of each one of them. 
• Contribution of authors: An example could be the following: MA and FB participated in the conception and design of the work, collection and obtaining of results, analysis and interpretation of data, writing of the manuscript, critical review of the manuscript and approval of its final version . MA participated in the analysis and interpretation of data, drafting of the manuscript, critical review of the manuscript and approval of its final version. 
• Full institutional affiliation: full name of the center, department and / or institution to which the authors belong, the city and the country. 
• Corresponding author: define the corresponding author and his email. Funding Source: In the case of a research report with funding, the data of the research project to which the article belongs must be mentioned: project number, year and source of funding. Conflicts of interest: Indicate whether or not the authors have potential conflicts of interest to declare. Submission date: include the submission date of the manuscript. 
• Title (may contain explanatory subtitle), must accompany the English translation. In the case of a research report, the data of the research project to which the article belongs must be mentioned: project number, year and source of funding. 
• Summary of a maximum of 250 words in two languages: Spanish / English. Keywords (between 3 and 5) in two languages: Spanish / English, Portuguese / English. To select these keywords, the "ISOC de Economía" thesaurus must be used for Spanish and "STW Thesaurus for economics" for the English language.
• Article development: for original articles, the structure Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions and Bibliographic References should be used. None of the articles should exceed 12 pages, unless the publisher considers it. Schemes, graphics or photographs (11.5cm wide and a resolution of 300 dpi) may be included in a widely available graphic format (jpg).

Receiving articles
The deadline for the receipt of papers expires on January 30, for the number corresponding to the first semester, and July 30, for the second.
