BOGADO PANIAGUA, Tahiri Jazmín; COSP SANDOVAL, Sofía; RODAS JARA, Ronaldo L  and  FRANCO, Fabián. Feasibility of a brief Mindfulness program for stress reduction in university students in Paraguay: pre-experimental pilot study. Rev. cient. cienc. salud [online]. 2024, vol.6, e6154.  Epub Dec 27, 2024. ISSN 2664-2891.  https://doi.org/10.53732/rccsalud/2024.e6154.

Introduction. Stress in university students is a problem that requires the identification of evidence-based programs that can be implemented in the educational contexts where students attend; one of these programs is mindfulness. Objective. This research seeks to contribute to the knowledge about the effectiveness of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) technique in a Paraguayan sample, particularly in psychology students, and thus provide empirical support at a national level on Mindfulness-based techniques. Materials and Method. For this purpose, a pre-experimental study of pre- and post-test measurement was carried out, without a control group, in a sample of psychology students. For data coll.ection, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-14) and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) were used. For the processing and analysis of the data collected, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 was used. A descriptive and explanatory analysis of the study variables was performed. Results. A significant difference was found in the levels of stress and in the levels of total Mindfulness, in the dimensions of Observation, Description and Non-Judgment. Conclusion. The results suggest that MBSR is a potentially useful intervention for stress reduction, but further studies are needed to verify its effectiveness in the general population.
