This article analyzes the presidential cabinets of Federico Franco (2012-2013), Horacio Cartes (2013-2018), and Mario Abdo Benítez (2018-2023) through the lens of social worlds of belonging. Moving beyond the classical approach that conceives political parties merely as electoral or institutional organizations, the study examines the militant, social, and professional networks that shape cabinet recruitment and ministerial appointments. Findings show that Franco and Abdo Benítez relied primarily on traditional partisan militancy, whereas Cartes departed from this pattern by privileging technocrats, business leaders, and managers from his corporate circle. This contrast illustrates how, even within the same party, leaders may choose different governing logics. The article contributes to the sociological study of Paraguayan political parties, emphasizing the relevance of social and cultural linkages in government formation and outlining new avenues for comparative research.
