TORRES, Yessenia Hernández; HERRERA, Iris Paola García  y  VERA, Luis Alberto Aparicio. Male systemic lupus erythematosus, report of clinical and serological characteristics in Mexican pediatric population. Rev. parag. reumatol. [online]. 2023, vol.9, n.1, pp.10-15. Introduction:

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a complex autoimmune disease with nu- merous clinical and laboratory manifestations. The incidence increases markedly in woman. The reason for the predominance in the female gender is still under study. It has been des- cribed in some studies that the diagnosis of lupus in the male pediatric population may have a worse prognosis with more severe involvement. Methods: In this work we described the clinical and serological characteristics in a Mexican pediatric population in a tertiary Mexican hospital. Results: Kidney disorder was high than other reports, including the Latin American reports. Constitutional symptoms were very frequent as well. And within the immunological profile we highlight the positivity for anti-DNA antibodies, the consumption of complement and the positive lupus anticoagulant. Conclusion: We believed that the better knowledge about homogeneous populations could improve treatment options. Male lupus in our Mexican pediatric group has more renal disorder than other latin American groups.
