Abstract

GLIZT, Romina et al. Complex regional Pain syndrome type 1. Case study. Rev. parag. reumatol. [online]. 2018, vol.4, n.2, pp.48-51. ISSN 2413-4341.  https://doi.org/10.18004/rpr/2018.04.02.48-51.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) type 1 presents with neuropathic and regio- nal pain, usually following trauma. Clinically it is characterized by burning pain, vasomotor symptoms and functional deterioration. We present the case of a 67-year-old woman with painful swelling and decreased mobility of the right upper limb without apparent cause. The diagnosis of CRPS is clinical, based on a high index of suspicion. Complementary studies are important to rule out other causes. It requires multidisciplinary management, in order to diagnose and treat as soon as possible, integrating pharmacological, psychological and physiotherapeutic treatment.

Keywords : Complex regional pain syndrome; type 1; pain; reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
