Abstract
SOSA AQUINO, Olga; RUOTI COSP, Mónica; ELIAS, Rodolfo and VELAZQUEZ ROMERO, Eduardo. Determinant factors in the job placement of university graduates from a private university in Paraguay: an analysis using binary logistic regression. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2025, vol.12, n.3, pp.82-92. ISSN 2409-8752. https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2025.012.03.082.
The labor market insertion of university graduates is a key indicator of educational quality, especially in contexts such as Paraguay, where challenges persist regarding access to formal employment, job search duration, and salary perception. This study aimed to analyze the academic and employment-related factors that influence the employability of graduates from a private university between 2019 and 2023, considering three dimensions: type of employment, time to insertion, and salary level. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and explanatory approach was adopted. The sample consisted of 77 graduates from five academic programs, selected through convenience sampling. A structured questionnaire was applied, and the data were analyzed using binary logistic regression in SPSS v.25.0. Three independent models were constructed. In Model 1, postgraduate education was a significant predictor of formal employment (OR = 3.64; p = 0.009), with an accuracy rate of 92.2%. Model 2 showed that both postgraduate education (OR = 0.27) and job tenure (OR = 0.72) reduced the time to job insertion, with an average of 10.2 months and a precision of 70.1%. In Model 3, both variables significantly increased the likelihood of receiving a salary above the minimum wage (postgraduate OR = 11.92), with a precision of 83.1%. The results show that postgraduate training and accumulated work experience are determining factors in job placement. It is recommended to promote lifelong learning and employability strategies starting from undergraduate studies to enhance professional trajectories.
