Recent economic challenges have highlighted the need to strengthen economies through productive diversification and the promotion of non-traditional goods, with a focus on the creation of technology-based companies. In this regard, the research aims to analyse the characteristics of Paraguayan exports, particularly technology-based goods, as well as their relative weight in the economy in the period 2014-2024. To this end, a mixed methodology was used, which included the analysis of export databases by category of goods, using statistical sources from the Central Bank of Paraguay and multilateral organisations. The results show that technology-based goods account for less than 1% of total exports during the period analysed, although growing dynamism was observed in the post-Covid19 stage. It is concluded that strengthening public policies aimed at promoting and fostering research and development (R&D) and innovation, together with capacity building and human talent development, is essential to increase the share of these goods in the Paraguayan economy.
