CAMPOVERDE-ROBLEDO, Flor Nohemy e SOPLAPUCO-MONTALVO, Juan Pedro. Model of Sustainable Educational Institution for an Environmental Culture in Primary School Students: Proposal for Change. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2024, vol.11, n.3, pp.40-52. ISSN 2409-8752. https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2024.011.03.040.
Primary school students exhibit low and moderate levels of environmental awareness due to inappropriate school lifestyles, a lack of engagement in environmental practices, minimal commitment to environmental preservation, and unfamiliarity with environmental issues that lead to negative habits, unhealthy environments, and apathy toward environmental matters. Therefore, a sustainable educational institution model is proposed to promote environmental awareness among primary school students in urban public institutions in San Ignacio. The sample consisted of 338 individuals, including students, administrators, teachers, staff, and parents. A descriptive-propositional methodology with a non-experimental design and a quantitative approach was employed, using questionnaires and statistical analysis. The results indicate that, on average, 70.84% of the students in the sample display low and moderate levels of environmental awareness. It is determined that the proposed sustainable educational institution model, validated by three experts, has a positive impact on improving the environmental awareness of these students. In conclusion, this model makes a valuable contribution to the field of education by integrating environmental sustainability into educational planning and management, thereby contributing to the development of environmentally conscious and responsible citizens.
