CACERES RUIZ DIAZ, Mariana; RECALDE RUIZ, Miguel Angel; SENA CORREA, Emilce  y  JACQUET AGUERO, Rocío Lorena. International collaboration in scientific publications of Paraguayan universities. Rev. Int. Investig. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2026, vol.22, n.1, pp.103-118. ISSN 2226-4000.  https://doi.org/10.18004/riics.2026.junio.103.

This study aims to describe the characteristics of international collaboration in scientific publications with at least one author affiliated with Paraguayan universities, including both public and private institutions, during the period 2022-2024. A mixed-methods approach with a descriptive scope was adopted, focusing on publications from seven scientific journals published by Paraguayan public universities and indexed in SciELO. Scientific documents were considered, identifying those with affiliation to Paraguayan universities and the presence of international collaboration. The results showed that approximately 19% of the publications featured international collaboration, with a higher proportion in 2022. Spanish was the predominant language, and the scientific article was the main document type. The most represented area was Medical and Health Sciences, followed by Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. Collaborative networks with various countries were also identified, notably the United States and Brazil. The findings demonstrate an international collaboration in the process of consolidation, the growth of which will depend on strengthening ties with universities and regional and international scientific collaboration networks.
