ORTIZ-JIMENEZ, Luis; LOPEZ-BERLANGA, María Carmen; FIGUEREDO-CANOSA, Victoria y CASTELLARY-LOPEZ, Macarena. Interaction in Educational Contexts of the Variables Sex, Foreign Origin and Disability. Rev. Int. Investig. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2025, vol.21, n.2, pp.289-300. ISSN 2226-4000. https://doi.org/10.18004/riics.2025.diciembre.289.
This study focuses on three variables-sex, origin, and disability-which we understand to have a multiplicative effect on the possibilities of effective socio-educational inclusion. Using a mathematical analogy, the order of the factors does not alter the product; that is, we can interchange the order, but the final effect may be the invisibility and consequent discrimination of people who share these three circumstances. After conducting a theoretical review of recent works on the topic, in-depth interviews were carried out with people from the province of Almería. This study presents six of the interviews conducted to date, all of which represent cases that correspond to the three variables indicated, with the particularity that they come from different countries and cultures of origin. The cases were selected intentionally. We aim to answer some key questions that gave rise to this research: What is the situation of women of foreign origin with disabilities in Spain, and specifically in Almería? What are the main barriers they encounter in their personal development? How can we improve inclusive pathways for this group? As is evident throughout, our goal is to give these individuals a voice so they can express their opinions and feelings, ultimately allowing us to guide actions aimed at addressing their situation in both formal and informal settings.
