This article addresses the erasure of racial (Black) identity among elementary school students. While problematizing the issue, starting from the limited presence of Afro-descendants in mainstream media and social networks, the text situates the theme within a theoretical-methodological framework as a documentary analysis, which constitutes an essential methodological approach for investigations in the field of Education. This approach allows for the critical analysis of existing records to understand social and historical phenomena that, in this case, were examined through an external evaluation. This epistemological endeavor enables the identification of signs of identity erasure and brings into the discussion authors who have already addressed the topic. Therefore, we consider it necessary to combat the erasure of students' racial identity by valuing diversity and educating about the history and culture of Black people, through public awareness and public policies, as well as the regulation of social networks.
