Introduction:
Vaccines play a fundamental role in the prevention and control of diseases; medical students must have some of them mandatory to carry out their practices both in laboratories and in hospitals.
Objective:
To evaluate the vaccination status of medical students at the National University of Asunción - Santa Rosa del Aguaray Branch in 2023.
Materials and Methods:
The research was carried out through an observational and descriptive study in which 169 students participated. Information was collected on recommended vaccines, including those for COVID-19, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Measles, Rubella, Influenza, and HPV.
Results:
The results showed high vaccine coverage in relation to COVID-19 (98.8%), but low coverage in relation to the HPV vaccine (45%). In addition, it was observed that only a small percentage of the students had the complete vaccination schedule for Hepatitis B and Tetanus.
Conclusion:
The study highlights the importance of reinforcing vaccination programs among medical students to reduce the risks of exposure to vaccine-preventable diseases in clinical settings.
