Resumen

OJEDA, Limpia Concepción et al. Perception of satisfaction level among parents of children hospitalized in a pediatric ward in 2025. Pediatr. (Asunción) [online]. 2026, vol.53, n.1, pp.69-77. ISSN 1683-9803.  https://doi.org/10.31698/ped.53012026009.

Introduction:

The satisfaction of family members or caregivers with the healthcare provided during the hospitalization of pediatric patients is a measure of the quality of a healthcare service.

Objective:

To determine the level of satisfaction among parents and caregivers of children hospitalized in the Pediatric Ward of the Military Hospital, Asunción, in 2025.

Materials and Methods:

We performed an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. The study population consisted of adult men and women responsible for children hospitalized in the aforementioned healthcare center. Data were collected using a satisfaction survey containing 20 questions that measured 4 dimensions. All respondents signed informed consent.

Results:

The survey was completed by 97 subjects, 55 women and 42 men. The majority of participants had university education (57.33%) or secondary education (32.99%), came from Luque (15.46%) and Asunción (11.34%), and had their own income (82.47%). The median length of hospital stay for the children was 3 days (IQR 2-5 days). 48.45% of them underwent some type of surgery during their hospitalization. The mean questionnaire score was 8.6 (SD ± 0.8 points). Following the recommendations of other authors, a cutoff point was applied at the 60th percentile, which determined that 41.24% of the sample reported satisfaction with the care and services received. The dimensions with the lowest scores were related to the treatment by administrative staff and tangible aspects such as the facilities and medical equipment.

Conclusion:

The level of satisfaction among parents and caregivers of patients discharged from the Pediatric service was 41.24%. No statistically significant risk factors for dissatisfaction were found.
