El perfil de riesgo litogénico es una representación gráfica de los distintos factores que intervienen en el proceso litiásico.  Objetivo:  Determinar el perfil litogénico en niños con litiasis renal que concurrieron al Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Salud durante el año 2022.  Materiales y Métodos:  En este estudio descriptivo se incluyeron 45 niños de ambos sexos con urolitiasis en los cuales se midieron analitos litogénicos séricos y urinarios, se realizaron análisis de cristaluria y se determinaron índices de saturación urinaria.  Resultados:  Se encontró al menos una alteración urinaria en 38 (84,4%) pacientes, siendo la hipernatruria y la hipocitraturia las más frecuentes. Entre aquellos (n = 24) que presentaron algún riesgo de cristalización urinaria, 20 niños presentaron riesgo de cristalización de un tipo de cristal y 4 riesgo en dos tipos de cristales. En relación con otros factores litogénicos, se observó cristaluria positiva en 20 (44,4%) pacientes, pH urinario inferior a 5,5 en 15 (33,3%) pacientes y orina concentrada en 41 (91,1%) pacientes.  Conclusión:  La identificación de factores litogénicos evitaría complicaciones futuras y recidivas de la enfermedad que llevaría a una mejor calidad de vida de los pacientes afectados por esta patología.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: Urolithiasis in childhood is multifactorial, occurs worldwide, and is characterized by its recurrent nature. The lithogenic risk profile is a graphical representation of the various factors involved in the lithiasic process.  Objective: To determine the lithogenic profile in children with renal lithiasis who attended the Institute of Health Sciences Research during 2022.  Materials and Methods: This descriptive study included 45 children of both sexes with urolithiasis. Serum and urinary lithogenic analytes were measured, crystalluria analysis was performed, and urinary saturation indices were determined.  Results: At least one urinary abnormality was found in 38 (84.4%) patients, with hypernatruria and hypocitraturia being the most frequent. Among those (n = 24) who presented some risk of urinary crystallization, 20 children presented a risk of crystallization of one type of crystal and 4 presented a risk of crystallization of two types of crystals. Regarding other lithogenic factors, positive crystalluria was observed in 20 (44.4%) patients, urinary pH below 5.5 in 11 (24.4%) patients, and concentrated urine in 34 (75.5%) patients.  Conclusion: Identifying lithogenic factors would prevent future complications and recurrences of the disease, leading to a better quality of life for patients affected by this condition.]]></p></abstract>
