<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.iics.una.py/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2307-04202019000200015&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.iics.una.py/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2307-04202019000200015&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.iics.una.py/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2307-04202019000200015&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  Introducción: Los trastornos de la transmisión neuromuscular, son una causa poco frecuente pero importante de debilidad en niños y adultos, se manifiesta por una debilidad quepredomina en ciertos grupos musculares y en forma característica fluctúa en respuesta al esfuerzo y al descanso.Dentro de este grupo de trastornos la de mayor importancia es la Miastenia Gravis.  Objetivo: Conocer el manejo quirúrgico de la Miastenia Gravis en los servicios de cirugía del Hospital de Clínicas de enero de 2008 a noviembre de 2018.  Material y Metodología: Estudio observacional, descriptivo, retrospectivo, de corte transversal, del 2008 al 2018.  Resultados: 13 pacientes con diagnóstico de Miastenia Gravis, predominio del sexo femenino, relación observada entre ambos sexos de 2,25/1. El promedio de edad fue de 29,5 años. Las manifestaciones clínicas más frecuentes fueron, ptosis palpebral, diplopía y debilidad muscular generalizada. El subtipo IIB es el más frecuente (Osserman).Todos fueron intervenidos quirúrgicamente, timectomia transesternal en el 84,6% y en el 15,4% timectomia por VATS. Se hallo hiperplasia tímica en el 69,2%.Evolución; el 23,1% está sin medicación, el 46,1% medicación en menor dosis.  Conclusión: Se observó remisión de la enfermedad y una mejoría clínica postquirúrgica evidente en la gran mayoría de los pacientes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: The disorders of neuromuscular transmission, are a rare but important cause of weakness in children and adults, manifested by a weakness that predominates in certain muscle groups and characteristically fluctuates in response to effort and rest. Within this group of disorders the most important is Myasthenia Gravis.  Objective:  To know the surgical management of Myasthenia Gravis in the surgical services of the Hospital de Clínicas during the period from January 2008 to November 2018.  Material and Methodology:  Observational, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study, from 2008 to 2018.  Results:  13 patients with the diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis, predominance of the female sex, with an observed relation between both sexes of 2.25 / 1. The average age was 29.5 years. The most frequent clinical manifestations were palpebral ptosis, diplopia and generalized muscular weakness. Subtype IIB is the most frequent (Osserman). All were operated on, transsternal thymectomy in 84.6% and in 15.4% thymectomy by VATS. Thymic hyperplasia was found in 69.2%. Evolution; 23.1% are without medication, 46.1% medication in lower doses.  Conclusion:  Remission of the disease was observed and an obvious postoperative clinical improvement in the vast majority of patients.]]></p></abstract>
