El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar las medidas bovinométricas y peso vivo de bovinos para carne de tres biotipos raciales mantenidos sobre pastizal natural. El estudio fue realizado en el Campo Experimental Barrerito, entre los meses de setiembre de 2017 y abril de 2018. Se basó en un estudio observacional analítico, evaluando 3 biotipos raciales (Brahman, Nelore y Criollo) en tres épocas de parición (cabecera (09/17), media (10/17) y cola (11/17). Los animales seleccionados fueron 220 terneros (nacidos en el año 2017). Los parámetros evaluados fueron peso vivo (PVN), perímetro torácico (PTN) y altura de grupa (AGN) al nacimiento y peso vivo (PVD), perímetro torácico (PTD) y altura de grupa (AGD) al destete ajustados a 205 días. Los resultados fueron sometidos a un análisis de varianza y las medias que presentaron diferencias estadísticas significativas fueron comparados con el Test de Tukey al 5% de probabilidad de error. Los pesos al nacimiento del Nelore se presentaron similares a los otros biotipos evaluados, los cuales no fueron influenciados por las épocas de parición. Los pesos al destete se manifestaron superiores en los biotipos Nelore y Criollo comparados con el biotipo Brahman. El PTD y AGD del biotipo Nelore fueron superiores respecto a de los otros dos biotipos evaluados, las cuales fueron estadísticamente similares.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT. The objective of this work was to evaluate the bovinometric measurements and live weight of bovine animals of three racial biotypes maintained on natural pasture. The study was carried out in the Estancia Barrerito, from September 2017 to April 2018. It was based on an analytical observational study, analyzing racial biotypes (Brahman, Nelore and Criollo) and calving season (head, medium and tail). The select animals were 220 claves (born in 2017). The parameters evaluated were live weigh, thoracic perimeter (TP) and hip height (HH) at birth and live weigh, thoracic perimeter (TP) and hip height (HH) at weaning be standardized to 205 days-of-age. The results were subjected to an analysis of variance and the means that presented statistically significant differences were compared with the Tukey test at a 5% probability of error. The weights at birth of Nelore were similar to the other evaluated biotypes which were not influenced by the calving season. Weaning weights were higher in the Nelore and Criollo biotypes compared to the Brahman biotype. The TP and HH at weaning of the Nelore biotype were higher compared to the other two biotypes evaluated, which were statistically similar.]]></p></abstract>
