El objetivo principal del presente trabajo fue observar cómo las condiciones socioeconómicas y ambientales representan factores predisponentes para las infecciones parasitarias en niños. El trabajo se centró en identificar específicamente los riesgos ambientales y sociodemográficos que contribuyen a la prevalencia de parasitosis, además de generar conciencia y promover medidas preventivas y de tratamiento de la parasitosis dentro de la comunidad. La metodología aplicada incluyó un análisis detallado de datos recopilados a través de cuestionarios dirigidos a los padres de 132 niños de entre 2 y 10 años. Se evaluaron variables como el tipo de vivienda, acceso a servicios sanitarios, prácticas de higiene, y la prevalencia de distintos tipos de parásitos intestinales identificados mediante análisis coproparasitológico. Los resultados revelaron una alta prevalencia de parasitosis, con un significativo 72.82% de los niños afectados. Se encontró un relacionamiento entre: las malas condiciones de vivienda, insuficientes prácticas de higiene, acceso limitado a agua potable y servicios de salud, la alta incidencia de parasitosis. La investigación destacó la presencia predominante de protozoarios como Blastocystis hominis y helmintos como Hymenolepis nana. Con base en estos hallazgos, se recomienda la implementación de programas de mejora en la infraestructura sanitaria y de agua, educación en higiene personal y ambiental, y la promoción de campañas regulares de desparasitación. Este estudio subraya la necesidad urgente de abordar las condiciones de vida para mitigar los riesgos de salud en poblaciones infantiles vulnerables, resaltando la importancia de un enfoque integrado que combine intervenciones médicas, educativas y de infraestructura para mejorar la calidad de vida y salud de los niños en comunidades desfavorecidas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This study investigated the prevalence of intestinal parasitosis and its association with environmental and sociodemographic factors in the child population of the Santa Librada settlement, in the city of Remansito. The main objective of this study was to observe how socioeconomic and environmental conditions represent predisposing factors for parasitic infections in children. The work focused on specifically identifying the environmental and sociodemographic risks that contribute to the prevalence of parasitosis, as well as raising awareness and promoting preventive and treatment measures for parasitosis within the community. The methodology applied included a detailed analysis of data collected through questionnaires addressed to the parents of 132 children between 2 and 10 years old. Variables such as the type of housing, access to sanitary services, hygiene practices, and the prevalence of different types of intestinal parasites identified by coproparasitological analysis were evaluated. The results revealed a high prevalence of parasitosis, with a significant 72.82% of children affected. A relationship was found between poor housing conditions, insufficient hygiene practices, limited access to drinking water and health services, and high incidence of parasitosis. The research highlighted the predominant presence of protozoa such as Blastocystis hominis and helminths such as Hymenolepi nana. Based on these findings, the implementation of programs to improve health and water infrastructure, education in personal and environmental hygiene, and the promotion of regular deworming campaigns are recommended. This study underscores the urgent need to address living conditions to mitigate health risks in vulnerable child populations, highlighting the importance of an integrated approach that combines medical, educational, and infrastructure interventions to improve the quality of life and health of children in disadvantaged communities.]]></p></abstract>
