Aunque generalmente es de etiología inmunitaria, existen casos secundarios y congénitos. La lesión pulmonar inducida por uso de cigarrillo electrónico (EVALI) es una entidad descrita recientemente y tiene múltiples expresiones clínicas e histopatológicas, entre las cuales solo un par de reportes presentan a la proteinosis alveolar pulmonar como parte del espectro. Describimos el caso clínico y el manejo de un individuo y analizamos los posibles mecanismos celulares que podrían generar esta asociación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is a diffuse disease due to the accumulation of surfactant in the alveoli that can cause dyspnea and progressively lead to respiratory failure. Although it is usually of immune etiology, there are secondary and congenital cases. E-cigarette induced lung injury (EVALI) is a recently described entity and has multiple clinical and histopathological expressions, among which only a couple of reports present pulmonary alveolar proteinosis as part of the spectrum. We describe the clinical case and management of one young man and analyze the possible cellular mechanisms that could generate this association.]]></p></abstract>
