Objetivo:  Determinar la caracterización clínico-quirúrgica de pacientes con diagnóstico de estenosis laringotraqueal en el Servicio de Otorrinolaringología del Hospital de Clínicas.  Metodología: Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo, retrospectivo con asociación cruzada. Se recolectaron datos de expedientes clínicos: método de diagnóstico, nivel de estenosis, grado de estenosis según Cotton-Myer (1994), tiempo de intubación, tratamiento primario realizado, uso de mitomicina C, colocación de tubo en T, complicaciones y recurrencia. Además, reintervenciones realizadas y se clasificó las estenosis en simples o complejas.  Resultados: Se revisaron 65 fichas en total, de estos, 42 pacientes fueron incluidos, con predominio del sexo masculino, con una media de edad 32,76±13,84 años. El sitio anatómico más afectado fue el traqueal. Con respecto al grado de estenosis, según la clasificación de Cotton-Myer, se encontró que el 54% presentaban una estenosis grado III. La mayoría de los pacientes fueron sometidos a tratamiento endoscópico, solo 9,5% fueron sometidos a tratamiento quirúrgico.  Discusión:  La estenosis laringotraqueal es un problema difícil de manejar y, a menudo, requiere una serie secuencial de intervenciones repetitivas. La gran mayoría de la estenosis son adquiridos en adultos se originan a partir de la intubación endotraqueal, en este estudio se incluyeron solamente a los pacientes con este antecedente, descartando otra causa de estenosis. El nivel de estenosis más frecuente fue traqueal, esto se diferencia de otros estudios Gómez (2013), Ramírez (2018) en donde el sitio más afectado fue subglotis. El grado de estenosis más encontrado fue el III (54 %), también se diferencia de otros estudios Nikolovski (2019), Ramírez (2018) y Ghiani (2022), en los cuales el grado I fue más frecuente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT:  Introduction:  Laryngotracheal stenosis describes a condition of upper airway obstruction that is generally more frequently associated with prolonged processes of endotracheal intubation or scarring after a tracheostomy.  Objective:  Determine the clinical-surgical characterization of patients with a diagnosis of laryngotracheal stenosis in the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the Hospital de Clínicas.  Methodology:  An observational, descriptive, retrospective study with crossed association was carried out. Data were collected from clinical records: diagnostic method, level of stenosis, degree of stenosis according to Cotton-Myer (1994), intubation time, primary treatment performed, use of mitomycin C, T-tube placement, complications and recurrence. In addition, reinterventions were performed and stenoses were classified as simple or complex.  Results:  A total of 65 records were reviewed, of these, 42 patients were included, with a predominance of males, with a mean age of 32.76±13.84 years. The most affected anatomical site was the tracheal. Regarding the degree of stenosis, according to the Cotton-Myer classification, it was found that 54% had grade III stenosis. Most patients underwent endoscopic treatment, only 9.5% underwent surgical treatment.  Discussion:  Laryngotracheal stenosis is a difficult problem to manage and often requires a sequential series of repetitive interventions. The vast majority of stenosis acquired in adults originate from endotracheal intubation. In this study, only patients with this history were included, ruling out another cause of stenosis. The most frequent level of stenosis was tracheal, this differs from other studies Gómez (2013), Ramírez (2018) where the most affected site was subglottis.
