El ácido tranexámico, un agente antifibrinolítico, se ha usado para reducir el sangrado en varios procedimientos, aunque los resultados en CEN han sido contradictorios. Este estudio evaluó el efecto del ácido tranexámico sobre el sangrado intraoperatorio en pacientes sometidos a CEN.  Objetivo:  Describir el efecto del ácido tranexámico sobre el sangrado intraoperatorio en pacientes sometidos a cirugía endoscópica nasal.  Materiales y métodos:  Se realizó un ensayo clínico abierto, controlado y no aleatorizado. Se incluyeron pacientes adultos de ambos sexos con indicación de CEN, tratados entre septiembre de 2022 y marzo de 2023. Los pacientes se dividieron en dos grupos: "ácido tranexámico" y "control".  Resultados:  Se incluyeron 42 sujetos de 18 a 60 años, con una edad promedio de 31,43 años. El 57,1% fueron hombres. La duración promedio de la cirugía fue de 1,7 horas y el sangrado promedio fue de 63,45 cc. El grado de sangrado según Boezaart fue mayormente grado 2 (50%). No se encontró relación significativa entre el uso de ácido tranexámico y la duración de la cirugía ni el sangrado promedio.  Conclusión:  El ácido tranexámico no mostró una relación significativa con la duración de la cirugía ni con el sangrado promedio en pacientes sometidos a CEN.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  Endoscopic nasal surgery was used to treat nasal disorders such as chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. Intraoperative bleeding prolonged surgery and increased the risk of postoperative complications. Tranexamic acid, an antifibrinolytic agent, was used to reduce bleeding in various surgical procedures, although results in endoscopic nasal surgery were contradictory. This study described the effect of tranexamic acid on intraoperative bleeding in patients undergoing endoscopic nasal surgery.  Objective:  To describe the effect of tranexamic acid on intraoperative bleeding in patients undergoing endoscopic nasal surgery.  Materials and Methods:  An experimental open, controlled, non-randomized clinical trial was conducted. Adult patients of both sexes with an indication for endoscopic nasal surgery, treated at between September 2022 and March 2023, were included. The patients were divided into two groups: the "tranexamic acid" group and the "control" group. Sociodemographic, clinical, and surgical variables were analyzed.  Results:  A total of 42 subjects aged 18 to 60 years were included, with a mean age of 31.43 years. 57.1% were men. The average duration of surgery was 1.7 hours, and the average bleeding was 63.45 cc. The Boezaart bleeding grade was mostly grade 2 (50%). No significant relationship was found between the use of tranexamic acid and the duration of surgery or average bleeding.  Conclusion:  Tranexamic acid did not show a significant relationship with the duration of surgery or average bleeding in patients undergoing endoscopic nasal surgery.]]></p></abstract>
