La artritis reumatoide (AR) es una enfermedad inflamatoria autoinmune crónica que afecta mayormente a mujeres. Objetivo. Determinar las características clínicas y el tratamiento de los pacientes con AR en el Hospital Distrital de Ñemby en el año 2024. Materiales y Métodos. Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo de corte transversal con vista retrospectiva de datos, incluyendo a 300 pacientes mayores de 18 años con diagnóstico de AR según criterios del American College of Rheumatology. Resultados. La edad media de la población fue de 51 años con un predominio del sexo femenino en 78,67%. El tipo de afectación articular más frecuente fue oligoarticular en 72%, siendo las manos las más afectadas, el tiempo de evolución de síntomas antes del diagnóstico fue aproximadamente 11,27 meses. El Factor Reumatoide fue positivo en 83,67%, mientras que el Anti-CCP mostró una positividad del 32%, realizándose en menos pacientes. El fármaco más utilizado fue el Metotrexato 31%, seguido por la Leflunomida 17% y la combinación de ambos con 13,67%. Entre los biológicos, se destacan el Infliximab 6% y el Tocilizumab 5,33%. Conclusión. En este centro la AR afecta principalmente a mujeres adultas, tiene presentación clínica oligoarticular y el diagnóstico es habitualmente tardío con escasa solicitud de Anti-CCP.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Introduction. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease that mostly affects women. Objective. To determine the clinical characteristics and treatment of patients with RA at the Ñemby District Hospital in 2024. Materials and Methods. An observational, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted including 300 patients over 18 years of age diagnosed with RA according to the American College of Rheumatology criteria. Results. The mean age of the population was 51 years, with a predominance of females 78.67%. The most common type of joint involvement was oligoarticular in 72%, with the hands being the most affected; The time from symptom onset to diagnosis was approximately 11.27 months. Rheumatoid Factor was positive in 83.67% cases, while Anti-CCP showed a positivity of 32% but was performed in fewer patients. The most commonly used drug was methotrexate 31%, followed by leflunomide 17%, and a combination of both 13.67%. Among the biologics, infliximab 6% and tocilizumab 5.33% stood out. Conclusion. In this center, RA primarily affects adult women. It has an oligoarticular clinical presentation, and diagnosis is usually late, with few requests for anti-CCP.]]></p></abstract>
