En los períodos invernales, se presenta una menor producción por las bajas temperaturas y disminución de la radiación solar. Existen especies como la avena que presentan un desarrollo adecuado en los meses de abril - setiembre, pero presentan bajos rendimientos por la disminución de la disponibilidad de nitrógeno (N) en los suelos. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de la fertilización nitrogenada sobre el rendimiento y calidad de la avena. Para ello se contaron con niveles de 0, 23, 45, 68, 90 y 113 kg de N ha-1, distribuidos en un diseño de bloques al azar. Se evaluaron la producción forrajera y la calidad bromatológica, así como la eficiencia del N aplicado. Los resultados muestran que para la altura de la planta no se presentaron diferencias entre los tratamientos, en cambio para el forraje verde (25.000 kg ha-1) al igual que para la materia seca (4.000 kg ha-1) son superiores con la utilización de 113 kg de N ha-1. Para la proteína bruta se presentaron concentraciones de 16% con la utilización de 113 kg de N, para los nutrientes digestibles totales (NDT) y la fibra detergente neutra (FDN) no se observaron diferencias. En cuanto a la absorción de N por la avena, se requieren 26 kg de N por tonelada de materia seca producida, además se presentó una eficiencia de recuperación del fertilizante de 0,4 y una eficiencia agronómica de 8,3. En conclusión, la fertilización con N con la dosificación de 150 kg ha-1, mejora el rendimiento y la calidad de la avena, por ende, es una alternativa para la producción de forrajes en el periodo invernal de la región oriental del Paraguay.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Forage requirements in Paraguay have increased in recent years due to the growing number of beef cattle. During the winter months, lower production occurs due to low temperatures and reduced solar radiation. Species such as oats exhibit adequate development between April and September, but low yields result from decreased nitrogen (N) availability in the soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen fertilization on oat yield and quality. Application levels of 0, 23, 45, 68, 90, and 113 kg N ha&#8315;¹ were used in a randomized block design. Forage production, nutritional quality, and nitrogen efficiency were evaluated. The results show that there were no differences in plant height between treatments. However, green forage (25,000 kg ha&#8315;¹) and dry matter (4,000 kg ha&#8315;¹) yields were higher with the application of 113 kg N ha&#8315;¹. Crude protein concentrations reached 16% with the application of 113 kg N (three times higher than the treatment without application). No differences were observed in total digestible nutrients (TDN) or neutral detergent fiber (NDF). Oat nitrogen uptake required 26 kg N per ton of dry matter produced, and the fertilizer recovery efficiency was 0.4, with an agronomic efficiency of 8.3. In conclusion, fertilization with N at a dosage of 150 kg ha-1 improves the yield and quality of oats, therefore, it is an alternative for forage production in the winter period of the eastern region of Paraguay.]]></p></abstract>
