Entre los aspectos alterados se encuentra la percepción y, dentro de ella, la percepción visual. En pacientes con esquizofrenia se ha demostrado que un aumento de las alteraciones de la percepción visual (alteraciones de la percepción de los colores, cuerpos, rostros, movimiento de objetos y visión doble o borrosa) está asociado a una edad de inicio precoz, a más ideas delirantes y alucinaciones, conducta extraña, síntomas depresivos y peor funcionamiento social. En este sentido, el objetivo de este artículo de revisión es presentar un panorama general sobre cómo las alteraciones neurobiológicas de la esquizofrenia afectan el sistema visual y cuáles son las implicaciones de la presencia de alteraciones de la percepción visual en estos pacientes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Schizophrenia is a mental disorder with repercussions in multiple areas which profoundly affects the patient's life. Among the altered aspects there is perception and, within it, visual perception. In patients with schizophrenia, it has been determined that an increase in visual perception disturbances (changes in the perception of colors, bodies, faces, movement of objects and double or blurred vision) is associated with an early age of onset, more delusions and hallucinations, strange behavior, depressive symptoms and worse social functioning. In this sense, the objective of this review article was to present an overview on how neurobiological alterations of schizophrenia affect the visual system and what are the implications of the presence of visual perception alterations in these patients.]]></p></abstract>
