El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar el momento óptimo de sacrificio comercial (MOSC) de cuyes (Cavia porcellus) criados de forma semi-intensiva bajo tres sistemas de alimentación. El estudio se realizó en el departamento de Cusco-Perú (Lat: 13°33'06.9"Sur.; Lon: 71°53'01.2" Oeste). Fueron utilizados 96 cuyes de la línea genética Perú machos, destetados a los 14 días en que fueron distribuidos aleatoriamente en cada sistema de alimentación (SA). El SA1 utilizó en su dieta 100% de alfalfa (Medicago sativa), SA2 fue utilizada alimentación mixta con alfalfa (Medicago sativa) (50%) y alimento balanceado comercial (50%), finalmente el SA3 utilizó 100% de alimento balanceado comercial en su dieta. Fueron estudiados el consumo de dieta (CD), ganancia de peso (GP), conversión alimenticia (CA). Fue encontrado que el SA2 demostró valores superiores (p&lt;0,05) para CD y GP, en cambio la CA del SA3 fue superior (p&lt;0,05) que los otros. El MOSC para SA1 fue en 9, SA2 en 10 y SA3 en 13 semanas, con pesos vivos de 784,91±13,66, 1192,63±13,66 y 1028,59±13,66, respectivamente; donde SA2 mostró superioridad (p&lt;0,05). El mérito económico de Sa2 determinó que, además de promover mejor retorno financiero, puede generar más ciclos de producción por año.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT. The present study aimed to determine the optimal moment of commercial slaughter (OMCS) of guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) reared in a semi-intensive system under three feeding systems. The study was conducted in the department of Cusco-Peru (Lat: 13 ° 33'06.9 "South, Lon: 71 ° 53'01.2" West). 96 male guinea pigs of Peru genetic line were used, all weaned at 14 days in which they were randomly distributed to each feeding system (FS). FS1 used 100% alfalfa (Medicago sativa), FS2 used alfalfa (Medicago sativa) (50%) and commercial feed (50%), finally the FS3 used 100% commercial feed in its diet. Diet consumption (DC), weight gain (WG), feed conversion (FC) were analised. SA2 showed higher values &#8203;&#8203;(p &lt;0.05) for DC and WG, whereas the FS3 FC was higher (p &lt;0.05) than the others FS. The OMCS for FS1 was at 9, FS2 at 10 and FS3 at 13 weeks, with live weights of 784.91±13.66; 1192.63±13.66 and 1028.59±13.66, where or FS2 showed superiority (p &lt;0.05). The economic merit for FS2 determined that, in addition to promoting better financial return, can generate more production cycles per year.]]></p></abstract>
