Objetivos: determinar la prevalencia de las complicaciones arteriales trombóticas en pacientes hospitalizados por COVID-19 en un hospital regional de Paraguay durante el 2020.  Métodos: estudio fue cuantitativo, observacional y descriptivo con componente analítico que incluyo a los pacientes con el diagnostico de COVID-19 confirmado por PCR o serología IgM-IgG que fueron internados en el Hospital Regional, seleccionados mediante un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia.  Resultados: de 282 fichas clínicas, el 71 % correspondía al sexo masculino con una mediana de edad de 60 años (P25=31 P75=65). El 88 % de los pacientes presento una complicación arterial trombótica, en donde el valor laboratorial más alterado fue el PCR en un 95 %. La asociación entre las variables de comorbilidad (Enfermedad Arterial Periférica, EPOC, Enfermedad Coronaria, Ictus) y prevalencia de complicaciones arteriales trombóticas y así también el Dímero D (17671,01±22356,21), arrojo un resultado estadísticamente significativo.  Conclusiones:  la alta tasa de complicaciones arteriales trombóticas en pacientes con COVID-19 es alarmante, además de la asociación del Dímero D y las comorbilidades con las complicaciones arteriales marca el norte del futuro del pronóstico de los mismos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: although respiratory failure remains the hallmark and leading cause of death from moderate to severe COVID-19, several cardiovascular complications and numerous cases of thromboembolic disease have been reported.  Objectives: to determine the prevalence of thrombotic arterial complications in patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in a regional hospital in Paraguay during 2020.  Methodology: the study was quantitative, observational and descriptive with an analytical component that included patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 confirmed by PCR or IgM-IgG serology who were admitted to the Regional Hospital, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling.  Results: of 282 clinical records, 71% corresponded to males with a median age of 60 years (P25=31 P75=65). 88% of the patients presented a thrombotic arterial complication, where the most altered laboratory value was CRP in 95%. The association between the variables of comorbidity (Peripheral Arterial Disease, COPD, Coronary Heart Disease, Stroke) and prevalence of thrombotic arteries and thus also the D-Dimer (17671,01±22356,21), yielded a statistically significant result.  Conclusions: the high rate of thrombotic arterial complications in patients with COVID-19 is alarming, in addition to the association of D-Dimer and comorbidities with arterial complications marks the north of the future of their prognosis.]]></p></abstract>
