El Protocolo ERAS (recuperación acelerada después de la cirugía) está destinado a disminuir el estrés quirúrgico y acelerar la recuperación postoperatoria, incorporando intervenciones pre, intra y postoperatorias multidisciplinarias logrando reducir el tiempo de estancia en el hospital sin comprometer la seguridad del paciente.  Objetivo:  caracterizar el comportamiento de los parámetros clínicos y quirúrgicos de los pacientes operados por cáncer colorrectal con la aplicación del protocolo ERAS en el Hospital General&#8220;Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso&#8221; (Santiago de Cuba), entre enero 2017 y diciembre 2018.  Materiales y Métodos:  se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo transversal en pacientes operados por cáncer colorrectal con la aplicación del protocolo ERAS. La muestra estuvo constituida por 46 sujetos.Se midieron variables demográficas y clínicas, además del tiempo de aparición de los ruidos hidroaéreos, complicaciones post operatorias, primera deposición y estadía hospitalaria.  Resultados:  el rango etario más frecuente fue entre 50 y 59 años (47,8 %). Predominó el femenino (63 %). La aparición de los ruidos hidroaéreos se detectó en las primeras 24 horas en 57,8 %. La complicación postoperatoria más frecuente fue la infección del sitio quirúrgico (4,3 %). La mayoría de los pacientes tuvieron una estadía entre 4 y 5 días (84,8 %).  Conclusiones:  con la aplicación del protocolo de recuperación mejorada después de la cirugía se logró un inicio precoz de la vía oral en los pacientes operados por cáncer de colon, con la aparición temprana de los ruidos hidroaereos y la defecación, lo que condicionó una estadía postoperatoria corta con un mínimo de complicaciones.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. The ERAS Protocol (accelerated recovery after surgery) is intended to reduce surgical stress and accelerate postoperative recovery, incorporating multidisciplinary pre, intra and postoperative interventions, reducing the time spent in hospital without compromising patient safety.  Objective: to characterize the behavior of the clinical and surgical parameters of patients operated by colorectal cancer with the application of the ERAS protocol in the General Hospital &#8220;Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso &#8221;(Santiago de Cuba), between January 2017 and December 2018.  Materials and Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive observational study was performed in patients operated by colorectal cancer with the application of the ERAS protocol. The sample consisted of 46 subjects. Demographic and clinical variables were measured, in addition to the time of occurrence of hydro-noise, post-operative complications, first deposition and hospital stay.  Results: the most frequent age range was between 50 and 59 years (47.8 %). The female predominated (63 %). The appearance of hydro-noise was detected in the first 24 hours in 57.8 %. The most frequent postoperative complication was surgical site infection (4.3 %). The majority of patients had a stay between 4 and 5 days (84.8 %).  Conclusions: with the application of the improved recovery protocol after surgery, an early onset of the oral route was achieved in patients operated for cáncer of the colon, with the early appearance of hydro-air noises and defecation, which conditioned a short postoperative stay with a minimum of complications.]]></p></abstract>
