Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the perception of educational competencies in teachers of initial and basic school education. The approach was quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive. 103 teachers were surveyed through a semi-structured questionnaire of 12 questions for convenience in the month of April 2023. Among the inclusion criteria are: being an active teacher of public and/or subsidized management, providing services in the Central department, belonging to the Initial Level or Basic School Education, participate voluntarily and anonymously. It was found that 23.3% affirm that being creative and innovative are one of the most important skills for the teacher's work, followed by 21.3% being able to take the initiative, having autonomy and responsibility, 29.1%. refers to being able to work with children and 31% affirm the lack of family support as one of the main challenges. It is concluded that it is urgent to clearly establish what teaching performance involves and its implications in the short, medium and long term, for the effective achievement of student competencies.
