Abstract

The objective of the investigation is to know the effect of the hardening of penalties in punishable acts of family violence since the modification of Law 5378/15 Paraguay, 2015-2020. It was based on a quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive approach. Reports on family violence in Paraguay were reviewed, data provided by the unified portal of access to public information of four institutions (Supreme Court of Justice, Public Ministry, National Police and Ministry of Women in the year 2022. The criteria of inclusion were: data directly linked to family violence between the years 2015 and 2020. The most relevant results were: existence of a higher concentration of cases in the year 2020 (52,510) with a variation of +27.2%, more than the previous year and the Public Ministry leads the list of interventions with a total of 53% (113,568) cases. It is concluded that cases of family violence have increased progressively in the range of years studied. Unquestionably, solutions must be observed background to the problem called criminally relevant behaviors.
