The objective of the scientific literature review article was to analyze scientific articles that contain information and data on public procurement and its general principles. In relation to the method used for the development of the work, the descriptive study of scientific articles indexed in databases of national and international journals has been used, between the years 2015 - 2022. Likewise, the reviewed documents present a descriptive, hypothetical study. deductive, exploratory, comparative, deductive and inductive, qualitative and quantitative. Regarding the results, 60 investigations were located, being selected for the purposes of the work 46 studies. The inquiry determined that public procurement is a fundamental tool for the implementation of public policies focused on improving the living conditions of citizens. After a detailed analysis, it is concluded that the general principles applied to public procurement fulfill an integrating and interpretative function. For this reason, it is important to know and disseminate them, since many of them help to have transparent selection procedures that reduce corruption in public procurement.
