Abstract

The objective is to analyze the incidences of internships in university education at the National University of Asunción, Paraguay. It was based on a quantitative cross-sectional and descriptive analysis. 150 students were obtained from the population, 109 samples and 88% response rate (92 participations) in the convenience survey and five interviews were conducted by trial. A 12-question questionnaire was sent to the students via email and WhatsApp, plus a five-question guide for the interview, between October-December 2018. The inclusion criteria for the survey were belonging to the institution, being registered in the coordination of internships, being a regular student from the 6th semester onwards and voluntary participation. And for the interviews, belong to the institution, have a position related to internships and voluntary participation, 46,7% thought that the duration of the internship is not adequate, 51,1% consider it as a means to apply the knowledge acquired at the university to the labor field and 82,6% affirmed that it is an experience of a formative nature for their career. Students consider internships to be relevant to their career and their application leads to previous experiences before launching into the labour’s world.
