Abstract

ROJAS-SILVERO, Ana Gabriela; GONZALEZ-DOMINGUEZ, Azucena  and  CHAP-KAU, Kwan Chung. Impact of economic growth in forested areas of Paraguay. Rev. cient. cienc. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.3, n.2, pp.80-87. ISSN 2708-0412.  https://doi.org/10.53732/rccsociales/03.02.2021.80.

The objective of this research study is to determine the impact of economic growth in the forested areas of Paraguay. The study design was based on a qualitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive approach. Two in-depth interviews were conducted by judgment of one hour each, via the Zoom application in 2020. The inclusion criteria were: experts in the area of agronomy and / or the environment. The data collection instrument consisted of a questionnaire with 10 open questions, which was carried out via the Zoom platform. The most relevant results were: 1. the main causes of deforestation in Paraguay is the monoculture plantation and, 2. the direct economic factors responsible for forest vulnerability have their origin in poverty, the construction of roads and above all agricultural and livestock expansion. It is concluded that the valorization of forests leads to the loss of fauna and flora, bringing with it negative consequences in the social, economic and biological fields.
