Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the attitudes regarding the learning of English in students of the first semester (morning, afternoon and evening shifts) of the Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at a private university in Paraguay, 2020. It was based on a quantitative, non-experimental, transectional and descriptive approach. The population consisted of 150 students and the whole was used as a sample. The only inclusion criterion was: belonging as an active student of the first semester of the university's business administration career taken as a research subject. Data collection was through an instrument developed by Iriarte, composed of 33 closed Likert-type questions of 5 points and classified in three dimensions: cognitive (9 items), emotional (12 items) and behavioral (12 items) during the month July 2020. The means of the general scores of the three dimensions were: cognitive (x̄: 3.93), emotional (x̄: 4.26) and behavioral (x̄: 4.20). It is concluded that the majority of the respondents adopted a positive attitude towards learning English, emphasizing motivation, curiosity and commitment.
