Introduction: Diabetes is a disease with high morbidity and mortality due to its complications. Preventing or delaying its complications requires early diagnosis and treatment, with changes in lifestyle and drugs, the mainstays of treatment. Objective: To investigate the compliance of the treatment objectives in diabetic patients of the National Hospital of Itauguá. Methodology: An observational, descriptive cross-sectional study which included patients who attended the diabetology clinic of the National Hospital of Itauguá was carried out. Results: The study included 162 patients aged 23 to 80 years (mean: 59 years), 67.2% did not comply with nutritional plan, 72.8% were sedentary, 47% were not adherent to the medication, 72.6% did not reach the blood pressure goals, 67.2% did not reach the LDL cholesterol, 60.4% did not reach the HDL goals and 78.4% did not reach the fasting blood glucose goals and 63.4% did not keep a glycated hemoglobin <7 g/dL. Conclusion: Most of the patients did not meet the treatment goals.
