Resumo

Introduction: Acute Myocardial Infarction is one of the most frequent diagnoses in hospitalized patients and an important cause of mortality in adults. Objective: To describe the clinical-epidemiological characteristics of patients with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction hospitalized in the Medical Clinic II service of the Central Hospital of the Social Security Institute. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) admitted to the Medical Clinic II service of the Central Hospital of the Social Security Institute between January and June 2019, were analyzed the sociodemographic and clinics variables. Results: 74 patients were included, of which 53% were male. 94% presented arterial hypertension. The most frequent age of diagnosis was 64 years in females and 66 years in males. Chest pain in 83% was the reason of consultation. In 70% presented without ST segment elevation. 30% of the presentation had Multiple Coronary Vessel Injury. Conclusions: Elderly male patients predominated. The predominant risk factor was Hypertension followed by Type II Diabetes Mellitus.
