Abstract

Community Based Learning (ABC) as any educational strategy must be evaluated in product and participation to make the necessary adjustments, corrections and improvements. Cross-sectional descriptive study carried out in 41 students of the Nutrition career at the Universidad del Pacífico through the application of a self-administered survey to identify benefits and difficulties of the strategy according to the perception and experience of the student. Ninety eight percent of the students perceive that the strategy is beneficial for their professional training, 83% of them mentioned contact with reality, ability to work as a team and solve problems. Time allocated to field work activities (n = 9, 22%) and the quantity and quality of equipment and materials, were difficulties identified by the students (n= 13, 32%). The methodology of Community Based Learning is accepted by the students since they perceive benefits such as the capacity for management and leadership for problem solving, teamwork and empathetic relationship with the community.
