The distribution and conservation status of the following four endemic species occurring in Paraguay were analysed; Baccharis illinitoides, Casimirella guaranitica, Neltuma rojasiana and Piptadeniopsis lomentifera. The methodology included the compilation of all available information in national and international herbaria, in the literature, and in the GBIF database; the taxonomic determination of specimens, and; the generation of a database with ecological information and geographical coordinates. Distribution maps were produced and the conservation status of each species was analysed according to IUCN Criterion B using the GeoCAT tool. The results showed that B. illinitoides and C. guaranitica are strictly endemic to Paraguay, meanwhile N. rojasiana and P. lomentifera are endemic to the Dry Chaco Ecoregion, which in turn forms part of the Gran Chaco Americano. These four species face land-use change for agricultural and livestock development as their main threat. It was proposed to classify the four species as threatened; B. illinitoides and C. guaranitica under the EN category, and N. rojasiana and P. lomentifera under VU. The importance of the protected wild areas where these species inhabit was highlighted in order to guarantee their conservation.
