CABALLERO CHAVEZ, Claudia Patricia and DUARTE LOPEZ, Víctor. Analysis of the variation of the Terrestrial Surface Temperature (TST) and the Normalized Differential Vegetation Index (IVN) in the metropolitan area of Asunción. Rev. Soc. cient. Parag. ABSTRACT
The temperature of the earth's surface has varied considerably in recent decades, according to several investigations, the regions with the most notable changes are the urban areas with the highest population concentration. For this reason, the use of spectral data provided by remote sensors allows having complete coverage of the territory at different spatiotemporal scales. Considering that the city of Asunción and its surroundings have had a high urban growth, the objective of the present investigation was to analyze the variation of the Terrestrial Surface Temperature (TST) and of the vegetation cover using the Normalized Differential Vegetation Index (IVN) in terms of area through a multitemporal analysis between the years 1986 and 2011. The methodology used was based on obtaining and processing Landsat 5TM satellite images and calculating the IVN
and TST. Therefore, it was possible to determine that in terms of area there was a variation in each of the categories of IVN and TST.
