Abstract: The consumption of medicinal plants in our country it is a tradition, therefore the importance of increasing knowledge in the morphoanatomy of medicinal species, to achieve the correct identification and the quality control of the same. The objective of this work was to provide morphoanatomic diagnostic parameters, for the correct identification and quality control of the “typycha hũ”, Sida rhombifolia L. (Malvaceae), used as a digestive in Paraguayan folk medicine. An observational, descriptive and cross section study was carried out; the samples were collected from the Acclimatization Garden of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the National University of Asuncion, Paraguay. As result the following diagnostic characters were determined: amphistomatic leaf, anisocytic and anomocytic type; four types of hairs: unicellular stellate hairs and glandular hairs with unicellular globose foot and head, sessile biseriate multicellular globose glandular hair, and multicellular glandular hair with a globose base and elongated at the apex, dorsiventral mesophyll, angular type collenchyma and presence of calcium oxalate crystals in the form of druses. The morphoanatomy characters of the sample were determined, for correct identification and quality control of this plant drug.
