MORAN, Edwin Stalin Hasang et al. Evaluation of corn production systems, on economic sustainability. Rev. Soc. cient. Parag. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.1, pp.18-30. ISSN 2617-4731.  https://doi.org/10.32480/rscp.2022.27.1.18.

Abstract: Corn is a cereal of great socioeconomic importance in Ecuador, due to its nutritional use and potential as an alternative energy source in the production of bioethanol. The yields of this crop are low due to inadequate agronomic management such as: monoculture sowing, stubble burning and intensive mechanization of the soils, which have a negative impact on the producer's economy and the diversity of ecosystems. This research evaluated the economic sustainability of the maize production system, on four soil management practices. To analyze the results of this objective, a randomized complete block design (DBCA) was used, with four treatments (conventional sowing (SC); sowing direct sowing (SD); Direct sowing with burning (SDQ); Direct sowing with brachiaria (SDB) and four repetitions. The SD produced the highest grain yield (6845.3 kg ha-1), although there were no significant differences with the other non-treatments. affected the other variables such as: plant height, loading height, weight of 100 seeds Direct Sowing (SD) can be taken as a beneficial practice in terms of reducing the costs of using machinery and a good grain yield. with respect to the historical values.
