SALAS-DUENAS, Danilo. Perception of the ecosystem services of the Mbaracayú Reserve by students of the Mbaracayú Educational Center, Department of Canindeyú, Paraguay. Rev. Soc. cient. Parag. [online]. 2019, vol.24, n.1, pp.173-190. ISSN 2617-4731.  https://doi.org/10.32480/rscp.2019-24-1.173-190.

The perception is made up of two elements, the sensations or physical stimulus, which is given by the medium in the form of sounds, images, scents among others and internal elements such as needs, experiences and motivations, which react differently to each external stimulus. Understanding how the actors perceive and relate to ecosystems and how they value the services they obtain from them is essential to formulate strategies for the management and conservation of ecosystems as a way to improve the quality of life of people, including in this case the impact that education has had in the way a group of students perceive the benefits generated by the environment.

The present investigation was carried out. between the months of July and November 2017, with the participation of all students of the Mbaracayú Educational Center (24 ° 8'2.19 "S, 55 ° 31'41.13" W) with the objective of determining if the students had acquired the necessary elements to be able to recognize and determine the importance that the Ecosystem Services have for their quality of life (well-being) and their communities after three years of education. To determine this, a survey was conducted among the 104 students in which four categories of services were used, following the structure proposed in the evaluation of the millennium ecosystems and applied in several research studies carried out in Paraguay. Among the results, the improvement of the knowledge and perception of the students as they are promoted to the next grade stands out, indicating also that not all categories of services are equally perceived.
