Introduction:

At a United Nations General Assembly, a commitment was signed that guided development policy at the international level by outlining the responsibility of rich countries to support poor countries through aid, debt relief and improved market access; this commitment would become known as the Millennium Development Goals. This later evolved into the Sustainable Development Goals.

Objective:

to determine the knowledge of students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Asuncion (FCM - UNA), Santa Rosa del Aguaray Campus regarding the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Methods:

This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study. An online survey was conducted among all undergraduate students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Asuncion - Santa Rosa del Aguaray Campus.

Results:

of the total of 91 students, 35 (38.4 %) responded affirmatively that they have heard or read about the United Nations 2030 agenda. 34 out of 35 (97.1 %) answered that the Agenda 2030 is an Action Plan led by the United Nations, regarding the knowledge of the objectives, 4 students (11.4 %) correctly identified the 17 objectives of the agenda, 8 (22.8 %) students have missed 1 or 2 objectives and the same number have missed between 3 to 4 objectives; 2 (5.7 %) do not know the objectives and 1 (2.8 %) answered that the objectives of the agenda are not among the options.

Conclusion:

knowledge of the 2030 agenda is scarce, but in accordance with similar publications in health students.
