Abstract

HERNANDEZ TREJO, Ninfa Elizabeth. Citizen participation in the participatory budget of Mexico City. Acad. (Asunción) [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.2, pp.155-170. ISSN 2414-8938.  https://doi.org/10.30545/academo.2023.jul-dic.2.

The objective of this research is to seek to answer the question: What elements of the institutional design or redesign of the participatory budget have been necessary and sufficient in the increases of more than 5% of citizen participation? The dependent variable is the increase in citizen participation and the independent ones are the concurrence with the election of the figures of neighborhood representation; the deliberative component; the increase in the allocated budget and the way in which it is distributed; the creation of the execution and vigilance committees; and, good practices. Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) is used to determine the necessary and sufficient conditions that explain this participatory increase.
