VELAZQUEZ HAURON, Edith Jacqueline  and  CABRERA ROMERO, María Gloria. Guidelines for policies of environmental adaptation of the Mboi Caé basin, Encarnación. Acad. (Asunción) [online]. 2022, vol.9, n.2, pp.217-224. ISSN 2414-8938.

The objective of this study was to propose guidelines for policies and plans for the adaptation and environmental protection of the Mboi Caé basin, city of Encarnación, Paraguay, based on the environmental conditions that have been found in the basin in question. In the methodological approach of the research, three general dimensions of analysis were raised: state of the water and forest cover, the state of the forest and the human factor. For data collection, the following instruments were used: mapping, observation and transect, photographic record and documentary analysis. In this context, it was possible to verify the existence of inappropriate and uncontrolled land use in the referred basin, which is affecting the integrity of this and the basin in general. Another aspect identified was inadequate forest management and deficient management of water resources, which are being over-exploited and also causing negative consequences. The policies and plans for the adaptation and environmental protection of the Mboi Caé basin were framed in seven main lines of action: monitoring of water quality, information registration, water balance, improvement of the municipal legal framework, environmental education, management and quality soil and preservation of biodiversity.

Keywords : Mboi Caé basin; environmental guidelines; environmental policies.
