The results indicate that these constructs are inversely related and statistically significant (r = -.397; p <.05); in addition, there is practical significance (-, 397) with a small effect size; There were, it is evidenced that the academic stress variable presents a statistically significant difference (p = .002; p <.050), in relation to sex, when observing the mean values it is said that women (M = 92.33) present more stress academic than men (M = 86.97). The study concludes that lower levels of self-esteem are associated with higher levels of academic stress in Lima students.
