SALAMANCA, Katherine Rodríguez  e  ZEA BARRERA, Carmen Elisa. Incidence of parental educational styles in school repetition in adolescents. Acad. (Asunción) [online]. 2022, vol.9, n.1, pp.38-52. ISSN 2414-8938.  https://doi.org/10.30545/academo.2022.ene-jun.4.

School repetition is a risk factor for the adolescent population, due to the negative connotation implied by not promoting the student to the next grade, affecting his or her mental health and interpersonal relationships. Thus, it is important to know the role of the family as the main socializing context of adolescents in school performance, understanding the incidence of parental educational styles in school repetition according to the experiences of adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age who participate in a Christian church in Villavicencio. The present study is qualitative of phenomenological type, with a sample of 10 adolescents who have presented school repetition in one or more grades in the last two years, with whom a focus group was carried out to generate an interaction on their educational and family experiences. As a result, a greater incidence of permissive and negligent parental educational styles in school repetition was obtained; corresponding to the theoretically established characteristics of parents and children under these two types of parental educational styles, so that the strategies and behavioral preferences of parents in parenting, affect the academic results of adolescents.
