Sharing an affective bond with a partner is a commitment, made up of the expression of emotions, feelings, responsibilities. However, when the relationship takes a different turn, misunderstanding, disunity, little affective expression, distrust and in extreme instances the verbal or emotional abuse generates emotional spoilage in the spouse, triggering a possible breakdown of the relationship. In this study the objective has been raised: To explore the couple's relationship, comparing the characteristics to choose the same couple and the emotional exhaustion that an emotional breakup poses. The marital satisfaction index and the marital instability scale were used. The sample was of 38 people, all lived in pairs and their ages ranged between 21 and 56 years. The results indicate that the positive elements are conjugated to assert that they would return to engage with the same person, otherwise, in the state of deterioration of marriage there is: lack of emotion, abuse and monotony. When there is a perception that the relationship is breaking down, there is dialogue with someone close to them, or they raise a possible separation. In conclusion it is important to point out that the emotional wear off triggers the possibility of rupture of the relationship, it can also significantly affect the psychological and physical level.
