CHECA, Valeria Stefania; ORBEN MENDOZA, Marly Melissa  e  ZOLLER ANDINA, María José. Family functionality and development of affectional bonds in children with behavioral problems of the “Nurtac” Foundation in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Acad. (Asunción) [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.2, pp.149-163. ISSN 2414-8938.  https://doi.org/10.30545/academo.2019.jul-dic.5.

The objective of this study was to study the importance of affective bonds and family functionality in children with behavioral problems. This was done with the participation of 30 children and their families, derived by the Nurtac Foundation, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, for presenting behavioral problems. Methodology is of mixed type, and the analysis is presented with a narrative design and descriptive scope. The study contemplated the analysis of the evaluation and intervention process for the strengthening of affective bonds. Finally, it is concluded that: 1) deficit in affective bonds between children with behavioral problems and families, generates greater difficulties associated with discomfort, 2) that family’s functionality level influences the proper management of behavioral problems, as well as in the intervention process, and 3) that in cases of behavioral problems, it is essential to carry out interventions with the participation of the family and not in isolation. These results highlight the importance of strengthening the affective and emotional aspects in these cases, as well as the methodological, technical and theoretical considerations for its approach from Psychology.
