Abstract

VAZQUEZ PARRA, José Carlos. The new beliefs of European citizenship in the face of terrorism. Acad. (Asunción) [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.1, pp.88-98. ISSN 2414-8938.  https://doi.org/10.30545/academo.2019.ene-jun.10.

In the last decade, terrorism apparently has had a clear growth not only in the damages generated or in the victims affected, but also in the uncommon frequency of attacks in some European cities. The events which, in the past, happened every decade now are repeating every year. This shows a clear change in people’s behaviors; they now build their lives around the possibility of being victims of a terrorist attack. This article reflects on the new European reaction in the face of terrorism, it evaluates how the European beliefs and actions may not be rational and even lead to uncertain and contradictory reactions.

Keywords : Jon Elster; arguments; terrorism; violence; rationality.
