The Law of Nursing Professional Practice aims to regulate the practice of nursing according to regulations, standards of professional ethics, agreements, treaties, pacts and conventions signed in the Republic of Paraguay. The methodology used in this investigation was descriptive, qualitative. With the aim of contributing from the history narrated by its main protagonists, what impact did the enactment of the Nursing Law exercise at the professional level; initially a documentary stage was developed, based on the systematic review of laws and institutional type reports, as a starting point for the analysis and interpretation of information. Ten interviews were carried out with key informants, referring to the three sectors involved in the process. From the interviews conducted and rescuing the process of construction of the Law, it can be affirmed that the elaboration of the same was widely participative, by the people involved, since although the proposal of a law for the profession, does not arise from a local need, but from international agreements, this task was strongly led from the academy, with professionals and the guild, in the double role played at that time by managers.
